Information for authors
The editorial board of the Chilean Journal of Statistics (ChJS) welcomes submissions of high-quality articles in statistics and related fields. Submissions must be sent as a single PDF file to the Editors-in-Chief of the ChJS.
Articles must be written in English and must include the following:
- Title
- Full names and affiliations of all authors
- Abstract
- Between three and five keywords
- A cover letter confirming originality and authorship
Authors must declare in the cover letter:
"We confirm that this article has been read and approved by all named authors. Furthermore, we declare that the article is original and has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere."
Submission process
The ChJS is committed to an efficient editorial workflow. The estimated duration of the editorial process is as follows: the initial editorial screening (desk review) usually takes up to 2 weeks. If the manuscript proceeds to peer review, this stage typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability. Final decisions are generally communicated within 12 weeks of submission.
Preparation of accepted articles
Accepted articles must be prepared using the official LaTeX template of the journal, which is available here. The article must follow the journal's format, including:
- Title
- Author names and affiliations
- Abstract (without citations, symbols, or formulas)
- Keywords (which must be different from the words used in the title and arranged in alphabetical order)
- Mathematics Subject Classification: Primary xxx · Secondary xxx
- Introduction
- Background
- Theoretical or methodological results
- Simulation studies
- Application to real-world data
- Conclusions (including limitations and suggestions for future research)
- References (numbered and ordered such as they appear in the article)
- Appendix or supplementary material (if needed)
The Introduction should clearly state: (i) the research topic and motivation, (ii) a brief literature review, (iii) the objectives and novelty of the work, and (iv) the structure of the article. Optionally, include a summary table of contributions.
Maintain consistent formatting throughout all sections and subsections. Avoid standalone paragraphs without heading, and apply uniform structure across the article.
